Applying to the Creative Mind Academy, running Summer 2022, is simple and easy, with 3 main components:

Portfolio Requirements

To apply to the Creative Mind Academy a sample of creative work is needed. We encourage that applicants submit their best work, whatever form that may take. While creative expression is desired, there are some requirements and restrictions about what can be submitted.

Acting


Please submit a 2 minute (maximum) recording that you feel best showcases your skills and knowledge in your area.

The recording should be of some sort of performance in which you are a featured performer. This could be part of a stage performance, or something specifically created for this application.

Note that if the recording is longer than 2 minutes, evaluators may view any 2 minutes of the entire recording as a means of evaluating your application.

Coding for Creatives


Please submit a completed creative piece of work that showcases your best work. Submissions should fall into following categories:

  • Viewable digital media projects. For example:
    • A digital game
    • Website design

  • Viewable examples of functioning code can be included in tandem with a final project (must be commented). Some language examples include:

    • HTML/CSS
    • JavaScript
    • Python
    • PHP
    • Arduino

Comic Art and Graphic Novels


Please submit a piece of work that showcases your best work. This could be an existing project, or something created just for this application

Artwork should not exceed a 10mb file size, and/or should be no more than two Letter sized pages.

Film


Please submit a piece of work that showcases your best work. This could be a video you made, script you wrote, or film you produced.

There is a 2 minute (maximum) for videos and 1000 word maximum.

This could be part of an existing project, or something specifically created for this application.

Leadership and Debate


Please provide a 3-5 minute speech performance with an accompanying transcript.

Alternatively, please write a total of 4 arguments, 2 for and 2 against the following topic: The United States Federal Government should prioritize the environment over the economy.

Please limit the word count for the written arguments to a maximum of 300 words per argument, or approximately one page.

Music Production


We want to hear a sample of your best work - whatever genre, style or medium you may practice.

Please submit a 2 minute (maximum) recording and specify your role in the recording: writer, producer, musician, voice, etc. This can be noted in the portfolio section in the application portal.

If the recording is longer than 2 minutes, evaluators may listen to any 2 minutes of the entire recording as a means of evaluating your application.

Musical Theatre


Please submit a 2 minute (maximum) recording that you feel best showcases your skills and knowledge in your area.

The recording should:

  1. Be of some sort of performance in which you are a featured performer. This could be part of a stage performance, or something specifically created for this application.
  2. Include/consist of a song performed by you.

Note: If the recording is longer than 2 minutes, evaluators may view any 2 minutes of the entire recording as a means of evaluating your application.

Social Media & Digital Entrepreneurship


Please provide one sample of a digital creative project you have done recently (this can be a website, photography/video, blog/vlog post, social media post, etc.) and how this helps to represent your interest in building your digital media skill set.
